Right, I'm going to set myself the challenge, being a boy for a week. Kind of...! Im going to look at the various types of male and how their fashion alters their lifestyle depending on what they wear. I will also try to live like a boy for the week whilst i undercover some male mysteries. Just basic things really like no make up, no moaning etc.
I am a 19 year old girl who would actually marry her hair straighteners, so getting into a boys head might be a bit tricky for me.
Just for a bit of background info...I'm not a typical 'girlie girl', I hate pink...and flowers. BUT, I do like moaning and shopping.
So, I cant do this for a week... Brilliant.
I'm going to start it this Friday (so its only for a week, and this means I have two days to be as girly as a girl can be, HA.) I'm going to do a broad survey so i can find out the main types of male in our society. For example: emo, trendy, 'lad', skater etc. Then explore how their fashion reflects on their lifestyles, and if they all have things in common really. Or is the 'male' is loosing its identity due to the 'new male' which is growing vastly in our society.
Im going to give myself some rules for the week...just for fun.
- Try some fashion out on myself (skater, trendy etc)
- No using a hair dryer, straightners or hair products (unless its hair gel, or products for men)
- No make-up or perfume.
- No moaning...or shopping.
- Drinking beer. Great, i love beer...this is a grand excuse just to indulge and get a fine, but well invested beer gut.
- Flicking straight to the football part of the paper (which by the way, is going to be the sun) then jumping straight to page three.
- Actually watching football. wo...hoo...
- Taking up all the room on the sofa.
- Playing video games (at least once throughout the week, as i've not done this for a long time.)
- No cleaning after myself, and being as crude and disgusting as i like. ( i may just be homeless after this week.)
- Calling everyone 'mate', 'darlin', or 'luv'.
To be fair, how hard can this be? I live in joggers when i can...Just not looking forward to the hair or make-up thing. I will in fact look like Russell Brand for a week. Nice.
You probably think I'm nuts doing this. But after reading up on the 'challenge journalism' I do find it interesting and think it will be great to see how other people react to me, how it effects me, and if I actually enjoy or learn anything about football after the week?
The inspiration for this moment of madness mainly comes from the challenge/immersive journalism like the work of journalist Dawn Porter, who did the superslim-me challenge for the BBC last year, in which she had to get down to size 0. She also kept a diary about this.
I love this women. she made the documentary interesting to watch, it shocked the audience, and also touched on the serious subjects of weight loss. Nice one Dawn.

I Also looked this
great blog by a guy who ate in like every single greasy spoon cafe in the world (it wasnt...but it seems like that.)
He kept like an online diary which is fabulously funny, with some great food-porn-esk pictures. None of him though, he must be a right fatty.
Hopefully, I can keep you lot entertained. I will involve pictures (hilarious) so we can all have a laugh about Beki the boy...
